In this session we will take a deeper look at the mind of the gifted learner and their social emotional needs and strengths. We will look at growth mindset techniques to help meet those social emotional needs to create a mindset ready for success. We will look at strategies to enhance goal setting, dream boarding, "fear setting", bibliotherapy and ways to engage the students in the metacognition of their creative processes all while session participants give these strategies a try themselves. The goal of our session is to create a framework and mindset to help the gifted students in our classrooms developed strategies to help them become happy, self-actualized adults ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

This presentation meets the following gifted competencies:
a) The ability to differentiate instruction based on a student’s readiness, knowledge and skill level, including using accelerated content, complexity, depth challenge, creativity and abstractness
d) The ability to understand the social and emotional needs of students who are gifted and to address the impact of those needs on student learning;
