Imagine a classroom where lecturing is kept to a minimum, if it happens at all, and the students become the primary source of the learning that takes place. This is a classroom where students think critically and problem solve every day, where memorization comes from understanding, and where students learn far more than just the content of the course.

This session will focus on lessons learned over the last six years in implementing a modified version of a discussion-based method of instruction known as the Harkness Method in my high school classroom. We will look at what it took to get started, the difficulties that were encountered, and the adjustments that have been made along the way, along with implementation suggestions for all subject areas.
